In keeping with the .EU Registry Policy, we have modified the implementation for the expiry and deletion of .EU domains in our system on the 31st of March, 2009.
- Impact on New Registrations, Renewals and Transfer-Ins:
All .EU Domains Registered, Renewed or Transferred-In (Traded) after the 31st of March, 2009 will have the expiry date and deletion date set to the second last day of the month of expiration.
Eg:
1) If a .EU Domain is Registered on 2nd April, 2009, the expiry date and the deletion date will be set to 29th April, 2010. After the 29th of April, the Domain will go into the Redemption Grace Period (Quarantine Period) for 40 days and will then be available for general registration. Your cost for recovering a .EU Domain in the Redemption Grace Period is $60.
2) If a .EU Domain is Registered on 30th April, 2009, the expiry and the deletion date will be set to 29th April, 2010.
3) If a .EU Domain is Transferred-In (Traded) on 4th April, 2009, the expiry date and the deletion date will be set to 29th April, 2010.
- Impact on existing .EU Domains:
All .EU Domains Registered, Renewed or Transferred-In (Traded) before the 31st of March, 2009 will not be affected by this change. For existing .EU Domains, the expiry date will continue to be exactly a year from the date of Registration with the second last day of the expiration month as the deletion date.
Eg:
1) If a .EU Domain is Registered on 2nd June, 2008, the expiry date will continue to be 2nd June, 2009 and the deletion date will be 29th June, 2009.
2) Important: If a .EU Domain is Registered on 30th June, 2008, the expiry date will be set to the 30th of June, 2009 and the deletion date will be set to 29th June, 2009.
We therefore recommend that you ensure all your .EU Domains are Renewed well before the second last day of the month of expiration.
